PSA 2020 Coronavirus Response

PSA is working with the conference hotel and local public health authorities to put in place appropriate protective and preventive measures for attendees, including the following:

  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout the meeting space
  • Increased cleaning of all meeting room surfaces that may be frequently touched
  • Food service by servers (rather than people, for example, in a buffet line using serving utensils themselves) or pre-plated items
  • A response plan in case an attendee begins to feel symptoms
  • Re-working the conference check-in process to eliminate touching of objects and surfaces by multiple people as much as possible
  • Revising session room setup so that there is more space between chairs, etc.

In addition, we will request that attendees consider modifications to their behavior, such as:

  • Stay informed–from reliable sources like the Centers for Disease Control and Oregon Health Authority
  • Stay home if you are ill (and if you have symptoms that occur in COVID-19, contact your medical provider by phone)
  • Think about less physical contact and more distance from others
  • Use good self-hygiene, like frequent and effective hand-washing and the sanitary use and disposal of tissues for coughs and sneezes

Attendees should also know that if deemed necessary for public health efforts–like tracking possible exposures–PSA can be required to provide attendee contact information (names, emails) to public health authorities.  (More information on this)

Finally, attendees should be aware that persons possibly exposed to the virus can be asked or required by public health authorities to self-quarantine (at home) for about 14 days. (More information on this)
